Zlarin Art Colony
The art colony on Zlarin Island, held in 2019, was the second consecutive colony on the island bringing together guest artists from Sarajevo. The colony was organised by the association “Kamenčići”, which once again created a space for art, community and shared purpose.
The colony had a humanitarian character, with all proceeds from the sale of artworks donated to children with special needs supported by the Kamenčići association. Working in this context added an additional layer of responsibility and meaning, as the artistic process was directly connected to care, support and solidarity.
For me, Zlarin always offers a specific rhythm of work. The island, the sea and the simplicity of everyday life naturally slow down the process and allow for focus and attentive making. This environment encourages reflection, conversation and a return to the essentials of painting.
The Zlarin Art Colony is a context to which I always return with pleasure — not only because of the place itself, but because of the people, relationships and the sense that art here carries a tangible purpose beyond the studio.
