9th International Fine Art Colony – Pelješac
The 9th International Fine Art Colony on Pelješac, held in Borje/Orebić, unfolded within a distinctive Mediterranean landscape shaped by stone, vegetation and intense light. The context offered a temporary retreat from everyday structures, allowing for focused work, exchange and a heightened sensitivity to place.
My work during the colony developed through an intuitive response to atmosphere and material conditions rather than direct representation. The rhythm of the environment — dry terrain, strong contrasts of light and shadow, and the presence of other artists — subtly informed gesture, colour and surface, becoming part of the painting process itself.
This context reinforced my ongoing interest in site-based artistic situations, where landscape is not approached as a motif, but as an active condition that shapes perception, tempo and decision-making within the work. The colony functioned as a space of concentration and dialogue, balancing individual artistic focus with collective presence.
