Prenj Painting Retreat 2024

Prenj Painting Retreat 2024 took place in the dramatic highland environment of Prenj, where rugged terrain, altitude and changing light created a distinctive artistic context. Removed from urban structures, the retreat became a space of concentrated attention, material presence and visual exploration.

During this site-based engagement, my work responded to the inherent rhythms of the mountain landscape. Rather than depicting topography directly, I engaged with surface, gesture and the shifting qualities of light and atmosphere. The act of painting unfolded through a series of intuitive decisions influenced by spatial tension, changing weather and the presence of fellow artists in dialogue with the environment.

This context reaffirmed my interest in artistic situations where landscape is not a motif, but an active condition shaping perception and artistic decision-making. The mountain’s silence, abrupt contours and elemental forces reverberated through surface, texture and chromatic choices within my work.
